good boy

"... what a good boy he is!"

Here is an opportunity to read comments from hand spinners, felters and other customers who have purchased something produced on our farm. We appreciate and thank all of you who have chosen to support our flock.

Please e-mail your comments about fleeces, wool, sheep, or our other items to Joanna & Keith Gleason at gfwsheep@gfwsheep.com

We would also be very happy to post photos of your work that you have made using our wools. Please send as a jpeg photo file attached to an email, along with a bit of info about your project.

Here is the photo showing the yarn I made and dyed from Iris (a Corriedale ewe) this year.
I just might keep that hat for myself instead of giving it to one of my nieces for a holiday present!

You can find the pattern in the 2009 summer issue of "Spin Off" magazine by Robin Russo who made hers using CVM!
That was my first try using color work and knitting with two hands - woohoo!

Ingrid Morkeseth (of Norway) writes:

This is a small part of half a fleece from Gleason's Fine Woolies. It is Violet, a Bond/Corriedale cross in shades of gray. A very nice fleece, very clean too.
I spun a (mostly) light fingering yarn, picking random locks and spinning them over the finger. Then I made a 2-ply. This kept the variation in the fleece, but muted it a little too.
I rather like the effect, with some striping but not too pronounced colour shifts. The pattern I made up as I went along, since that's what I'm trying to learn these days. I started at the top and increased down the middle and sides, with some extra increases scattered in to add some width to the shoulder area.
People have asked if I could write up the pattern for this shawl, and I might very well do it, but not until the holiday knitting is done. So - check back in January, and we'll see!
